Many people are not aware of, or have never heard of, North Carolina skiing. You are not alone if you have never even heard such a thing. However, they do ski in North Carolina! As a matter of fact, some of the highest mounts in the east are located in this state -- the Appalachian Mountains! Ski Beech

The Ski Beech ski resort is located in North Carolina and sits at 5506 feet about sea level. It has some of the highest peaks in all eastern North America. This North Carolina skiing resort offers no less than fifteen ski trails, at different experience levels, as well as 9 lifts to take you to the top of the trails.

This North Carolina skiing resort is conveniently located approximately 50 minutes from Hickory, North Carolina, and around 93 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Appalachian Ski Mountain

Being located in between Blowing Rock and Boone, the Appalachian Ski Mountain is considered one of the best places to take a North Carolina skiing vacation. The mountain this resort is located on is 4000 feet above sea level, with a vertical drop of over 350 feet. This helps to make it such a thrilling ride, all the way down. Appalachian Ski Mountain has nine slopes in all, with trails for every experience level.

Sapphire Valley Ski Area

Another popular North Carolina skiing resort is Sapphire Valley Ski Area. This ski resort is located in Sapphire, North Carolina and forms a portion of the 5,700 acre "four-seasons" resort. Sapphire Valley offers North Carolina skiing on two separate trails, which are both served by a brand new lift. There is also a multi-laned tubing hill, for those who prefer to tube.
